A recent dinner hosted by Donald Trump for the top holders of the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin drew criticism regarding both the food and the event itself. Attendees, who each paid millions to attend, reported the three-course meal as subpar. Nicholas Pinto, a TikTok prankster who spent approximately $300,000 on TRUMP tokens to secure his place, described the food as “the worst food I’ve ever had at a Trump golf course,” and other attendees echoed similar sentiments, labeling it “OK, but not top-class.” The menu, which included a “Trump organic field green salad,” filet mignon, pan-seared halibut, and lava cake, failed to impress. Pinto specifically criticized the filet mignon as “trash,” comparing it to a “Walmart steak,” highlighting the bread and butter as the only palatable items. Multiple attendees at Pinto’s table concurred, stating the meal was among the worst they had ever experienced. Pinto expressed his preference for a simpler menu, suggesting Big Macs or pizza would have been a preferable choice.
Trump’s speech also received negative feedback. Pinto characterized the address as “pretty much like bullshit.” Videos circulating on X show Trump reading from a script, mentioning the presence of “smartest minds” and suggesting crypto’s potential, concluding with a vague “it may be special.” Attendees further criticized Trump’s abrupt departure after his speech, neglecting to personally distribute promised watches to top investors.
The event’s controversy extended beyond the meal and speech. Thirty-five House Democrats have called for a Justice Department investigation into the dinner, suspecting potential violations of federal bribery statutes and the foreign emoluments clause due to the participation of international investors. The emoluments clause prohibits the president from accepting gifts from foreign states without congressional approval. Trump invited the top 220 TRUMP token holders, many of whom were international attendees, to the event at his Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. The investigation focuses on whether the event constituted acceptance of foreign investments in violation of these legal provisions.
