Solana firms make moves on staking, treasury and compliance

Solana’s ecosystem is experiencing significant growth, driven by institutional investment and technological advancements. Sol Strategies, a publicly traded Canadian firm focused on Solana, filed a preliminary base shelf prospectus for up to $1 billion in common share offerings. This move, according to CEO Leah Wald, provides the flexibility to capitalize on future opportunities within the evolving Solana ecosystem. The filing doesn’t indicate an immediate offering but supports Sol Strategies’ long-term growth strategy.

Simultaneously, DeFi Development Corp. (DeFi Dev) announced its adoption of liquid-staked SOL (dfdvSOL) for its treasury operations. This strategic shift allows DeFi Dev to earn staking rewards without locking up its assets, enhancing validator operations and treasury management. The move follows a recent addition of 88,164 SOL to DeFi Dev’s treasury, highlighting the growing interest in liquid staking solutions. Liquid staking offers token holders the benefits of staking rewards while maintaining the liquidity of their assets, allowing participation in DeFi applications.

Adding to the increased institutional confidence in Solana, Sol Strategies has completed several key audits and certifications. These include SOC 2 Type 1 and SOC 1 Type 1 audits, verifying the firm’s controls related to security and financial reporting. Furthermore, Sol Strategies received ISO 27001 certification for its Solana staking platform, demonstrating its commitment to information security management. These achievements aim to bolster institutional trust and solidify Sol Strategies’ position as a major Solana validator. Previously, Sol Strategies issued $500 million in convertible notes to acquire and stake SOL, further demonstrating its significant commitment to the Solana ecosystem.
