According to a news release, the works are “primarily figurative and span various mediums: oil on canvas, spray paint on steel, cement, textile, wood, found objects, and digital NFT works.”
This show features the private collection of Fabio Sandoval, a twenty-five-year-old local collector who has been collecting for the past six years.
Artists in the collection are from diverse ethnic backgrounds and include the work of several rising stars in the NFT community, including former baseball player-turned-NFT artist Micah Johnson.

Following the historic auction at Christie’s on March 11, 2021, where an entire series of NFTs sold for more than sixty-nine million dollars, the art world has been changed forever.
NFTs have become the “canvases of a living, breathing document that changes over time,” said Mike “Beeple” Winkelman, an NFT artist.
This is OMA’s first foray into presenting NFTs. It is also the first time the museum will present work from a collector in his twenties, with most of the featured artists also in their twenties.

“As museum curators, it is our responsibility to be aware of new developments in the art world, including what is happening in the Metaverse.” said OMA curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon “NFTs have enabled digital artists to market their work to collectors internationally without the help of the perceived ‘gatekeepers’ of the art world, namely, museum curators and gallerists. This unmediated connection between the creator and the consumer of art is fascinating, along with the fact that NFTs provide ironclad provenance, a deed of ownership, and provable scarcity to the digital artwork.”
The Twentysomethings exhibition opens Saturday, Jan. 27, and will be on view through Sunday, May 7.

The “curse of the Kennedys” is part of American folklore. John F Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, then that of his brother Robert F Kennedy in 1968, are only the most notorious of the myriad calamities to have befallen the dynasty. Then in 1969 came the infamous incident at Chappaquiddick, when Teddy Kennedy’s passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, drowned after he drove into a lake.

Nearly 60 years after Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. addressed thousands on the Boston Common, city officials unveiled a sculpture commemorating the civil rights leader and his wife, Coretta Scott King. The bronze sculpture, which is 20 feet tall and 26 feet wide, is the largest monument in the U.S. dedicated to racial equity and is located in the town where the couple first met. King was studying as a doctoral student in theology at Boston University when he met Coretta, who was studying at the New England Conservatory of Music.
KHERSON, Ukraine — One morning in late October, Russian forces blocked off a street in downtown Kherson and surrounded a graceful old building with dozens of soldiers. Five large trucks pulled up. So did a line of military vehicles, ferrying Russian agents who filed in through several doors. It was a carefully planned, highly organized, military-style assault — on an art museum. Over the next four days, the Kherson Regional Art Museum was cleaned out, witnesses said, with Russian forces “bustlin

When Samuel Pepys went into detail in his diaries about his fumblings and fondlings he used snatches of Spanish to describe his attempts to hazer la grande cosa. I think it was out of reluctance to put it in plain English as much as to hide the facts from prying eyes. Pepys (1633-1703) was exceptional in his love for things Spanish. Despite the popularity of Don Quixote, regarded as a comic novel, most English people at the time thought of the Spanish as proud, papistical and persecuted by the I

There was a time forty years ago when John Eliot Gardiner and his English Baroque Soloists made 18th century music seem edgy, as far as Bach and Mozart can ever seem edgy. The wiry sound of the violins, expressive in the way a whippet-thin dancer is expressive, the tangy sound of old-style oboes and bassoons, the whooping, slightly wonky-sounding 18th century horns, the clattering kettle-drums – all this seemed thrillingly new. At the front, the intense, unsmiling “Gigi” urged the players to fil
