With countless Web3 and crypto events happening all over the world and more popping up each year, it can be tough to filter through the noise and identify the ones that matter.
I’ve worked with crypto founders and executives for the better part of a decade now, helping them to formulate their PR and event strategies and attending many crypto events in person. Based on that knowledge and input from other industry leaders, here is a list of top crypto events that should be on every executive’s radar for 2023.
ETHDenver, March 2-5 in Denver: Taking place every winter in Denver, ETHDenver is the largest hackathon and gathering for Ethereum and other blockchain developers in the world. It’s much more than just a conference and hackathon, though – it’s a chance to experience workshops, art installations, pop-ups, live music, and networking events all with other crypto enthusiasts. It feels more like a festival than a conference, making it a big draw for the crypto community year after year. One of the best things about ETHDenver is that it’s free to attend – you just have to apply in advance on their website.
NFT.NYC, April 12-14 in NYC: While the hype around so-called profile pic NFTs has fallen, the promise of digital collectibles has never been more apparent. This will be a big year for NFTs across gaming, the metaverse, brand loyalty, sports and beyond; making NFT.NYC a can’t-miss event for founders focused on this vertical. Speaker submissions for NFT.NYC are open until February 10 here. Grit Daily’s Jordan French will return to speak in 2023, and Grit Daily will return to host its annual NYC Speakers & Media Dinner April 12th.
CoinDesk Consensus Festival, April 26-28 in Austin: Hosted by the most recognizable media brand in crypto, CoinDesk Consensus draws many of the top thought leaders, executives, reporters, and builders in the space year after year dating all the way back to 2015. Since outgrowing its NYC location, Consensus now takes place in downtown Austin and is sure to draw both crypto and TradFi players for an exploration of what’s ahead for the industry in 2023 and beyond. Speaker submissions are open until March 3. Grit Daily will host Consensus Festival’s Media Stage at Grit Daily House as an official satellite event, with its indoor, 3-mic podcast studio and stage flanked by a private bartender and private chef April 26 and 27. CryptoMondays and Lou Kerner are set to return in 2023.
Permissionless, September 11-13 in Austin: Permissionless is put on by Blockworks and Bankless, another two famously recognizable media brands in Web3. It’s no surprise that their inaugural event last year made a splash, drawing 5,500 attendees and making it a must on crypto conference calendar for 2023. With a focus on DeFi, Permissionless is geared towards both builders and investors rethinking the future of finance. Apply to speak at the show here.
Messari Mainnet, September 20-22 in NYC: Messari is known for delivering top-notch data, analytics and research to the crypto sector, and its annual Mainnet event builds on these insights to give investors and industry leaders an edge over the competition. Along with conference programming, this year’s event promises to lean into experiential learning, collaboration and networking opportunities as well.
Money20/20, October 22-25 in Las Vegas: Money20/20 is not a crypto conference, but it’s become one of the best places for crypto leaders to rub elbows with key players in the financial services industries as well as across payments and fintech. For any crypto exec looking to partner with institutions or payment providers this year, Money20/20 is the place to be.
Quantum Miami 2023, January 25-27 Miami, Florida: Quantum Miami 2023 sets the global cryptocurrency centerstage as thousands of crypto industry trailblazers, Web3 leaders, high networth investors, global media, and blockchain technologists converge together in Miami at the James L. Knight Center from January 25th – 27th, 2023. Building on last January’s Bitcoin-themed conference, Quantum Miami is presented by many of the same event production team as The North American Bitcoin Conference (TNABC) 2022 in Miami and the Fantom Developer Conference (FantomDC) held in Abu Dhabi last fall, owned by Harry Yeh, Chairman of Quantum Events, Managing Director of Quantum Fintech Group, and founder of $LIF3. We’d be remiss to not name Matt Lutz, Matt Madera, Miranda Gray, and CEO Jason Kamen for a diverse and heavily merit-based speakers list. Grit Daily’s Jordan French will moderate panels on legal and aerospace topics, in a prelude to what will be an enforcement-heavy year.
Along with these U.S. conferences, there are countless crypto events taking place all over the world, from London to Paris to Singapore and just about everywhere in between. Depending on your audience and target market, it’s worth identifying which international events are worth your investment. The folks at Crypto Nomads Club have great running list events to check out.
