Hostess Twinkies is joining the cryptocurrency bandwagon.
Inspired by all the buzz surrounding the various digital currencies out there, the snack cake brand has decided to launch its very own “cryptocurrency” called $TWINKcoin.
Despite being dubbed as a cryptocurrency, $TWINKcoin is not a real virtual currency. Fans won’t earn money from purchasing one, but $TWINKcoin promises to deliver a very tasty return.
With more than 12,000 cryptocurrencies to choose from, $TWINKcoin is the best investment to satisfy your snacking needs. Baked to create an opulent snack of golden treasure for any occasion, $TWINKcoin is the newest take on fan-favorite Hostess Twinkies and is the first coin-shaped golden sponge cake of its kind.
Launching in late June, $TWINKcoin will be sold at Walmart stores across the United States and will come in a 10-count multi-pack at a suggested retail price of $3.49.
$TWINKcoin is a limited-edition snack cake, so make sure to grab a pack or two as soon as they become available for purchase.
The upcoming release of $TWINKcoin comes two months after Hostess Brands teamed up with delivery company Gopuff in giving away free snack cakes last April 6th in celebration of National Twinkies Day.
In the press release announcing the giveaway last April, Christopher Balach, general manager of Hostess Brands, LLC, said that “Twinkies are a beloved snack brand and have been for generations” so the company takes “great care to ensure that the taste and quality of each pack … exceed fans’ expectations.”
