Headwinds against coin mining boost availability of computer component
TOKYO — The price for graphics cards — a computer component crucial for data-intensive activities like gaming — has dropped about 60% from a 2021 peak amid a slowdown in cryptocurrency mining.
An extensive array of graphics cards lined the shelves at Dospara, a computer parts store in the capital’s Akihabara electronics district, in early December. Back in early 2021, those same shelves would have stood empty.
