NEW ORLEANS (PRWEB) January 25, 2023
New Orleans-based Web3 venture studio NieuxCo announced the launch of the first ever Mardi Gras-themed NFT collection, designed by the 504 founding members of the Nieux Society to celebrate innovation, community, and creator empowerment. Each unique NFT captures a personal view of Mardi Gras through the assistance of AI-generative tools to produce the 5,000 pieces—the largest, community-led, AI-generated NFT collection to-date.
"AI technology connects and strengthens real-world communities in ways that were never accessible nor possible before,” said Tim Williamson, Co-Founder and CEO of NieuxCo. “Nieux Society members used this cutting-edge technology to create a collective vision for Mardi Gras, while utilizing NFT technology to provide holders exclusive access, benefits, and an ongoing invitation to join us on our journey to help New Orleans’ realize her full creative potential.”
The first edition Mardi Gras NFTs hold unique utility, granting owners access to the Nieux Campus on St. Charles Avenue during the parades, special events, private parties, food and drink, exclusive performances, bathrooms, and more. Additionally, NieuxCo will be implementing digital doubloons throughout the city that can only be seen by Mardi Gras NFT holders. The discovery of a digital doubloon unlocks perks, such as a free drink at the venue where the doubloon was found.
Holders of the Mardi Gras NFT will be invited to exclusive workshops, including participation in several innovative New Orleans led NFT collections: ShaSha Social Aid & Pleasure Club, New Orleans' first NFT-membership cocktail lounge and creation of James Beard Award Winning chef and owner of Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro in New Orleans, Nina Compton, and Hotel Freedia NFT project, led by Big Freedia, a nationally recognized hip-hop artist, TV personality, and Queen of New Orleans Bounce music.
“Our goal is to demonstrate how blockchain technology can be used to revolutionize creator/collector models for artists," said Lindsey Roussel, Managing Director of Nieux Society, a global collective exploring Web3 in New Orleans and a project of NieuxCo. "By purchasing a Mardi Gras NFT, you will own a piece of Mardi Gras history and be engaged in our mission to educate and integrate the creators of New Orleans into the next generation of the internet."
NieuxCo holds a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each NFT in their on-chain treasury, which is used to support local artists and fund grass-roots Web3 initiatives in New Orleans. Mardi Gras NFTs are a limited edition and current holders will have the first right to re-up their membership each year.
