Original Banksy artwork will soon be available on MakersPlace (the premium art NFT marketplace), thanks to Austin Wilde. The BADMEANiNGOOD by Austin Wilde x Banksy NFT series will feature art designs by the famous graffiti artist, and also comes with some fantastic utility.
The first drop, consisting of five NFTs, launches on October 4th at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET. Furthermore, there is one Vinyl 12-inch music NFT, and four unique poster NFTs.
Austin Wilde is a former graffiti artist, creative director, and indie label owner, who currently works as a music lecturer. Back in the early 2000s, he ran a music record label famous for cult classic compilations.
Amongst these albums was a hip-hop series called BADMEANiNGOOD. To create the art for the album, Austin Wilde recruited an unknown graffiti artist, Banksy. Therefore, Banksy produced four original album covers and posters, with an additional 12″ sleeve, for the 2002-03 releases.
Now, almost twenty years later, infamous street artist Banksy has provided Austin with the complete copyrights for the designs. Thanks to this decision, BADMEANiNGOOD is coming to the NFT marketplace, MakersPlace.
“It’s been over two decades since I released this series featuring talented musicians and Banksy’s original designs. I’m honored to introduce these unique vinyl, CD, and poster artworks to a whole new audience and bring them to life through the digital world.” Wilde said.
The first release of Wilde’s compilation series BADMEANiNGOOD came out in the early 2000s, featuring music-producer Skitz. Banksy created an original image of heavy artillery wearing a pair of Adidas sneakers for the album cover.
For the other album covers, graffiti artist Banksy also used images from his own collection and altered them to fit the BADMEANiNGOOD theme. These images will now feature as part of the upcoming NFT collection.
So, with complete copyrights for the designs, Wilde and MakersPlace will release several versions from the compilation series that feature Banksy designs over the coming months. Moreover, most of these are original Banksy artworks with limited edition posters, and even some with original, deadstock, and mint vinyls.
Beginning on October 4th, the first collection of BADMEANiNGOOD NFTs featuring original Banksy artwork will be available. This collection consists of 5 NFTs. These are,
Buyers of the poster NFTs will also receive a huge and scarce 60×40 inch ‘blueback’ poster. This is a physical redeemable poster and is huge in size.
Austin Wilde and MakersPlace have both agreed to donate 10% of their Banksy NFT sales proceeds to MOAS Mission Ukraine. MOAS is a charity helping to provide medical aid and assistance to people affected by the horrific war in Ukraine.
Finally, the NFTs will go on sale on October 4th via the MakersPlace website.
