The y00ts NFT mint keeps making headlines, this time thanks to the NFT whale Franklin. The collector, whose portfolio currently boasts 60 Bored Apes, made a 90 SOL profit by selling his y00ts mint spot. Soon enough, this controversial move sparked controversy among collectors. In fact, even DeGods’ founder Frank addressed Franklin’s decision via Twitter,
All in all, the sale was undoubtedly profitable – but was it worth the NFT community’s mixed reaction?
On September 5th, the delayed y00ts NFT mint finally happened, much to collectors’ delight. However, some of the minters had different plans in mind, including Bored Ape NFT whale Franklin. He is the 6th largest Bored Ape collector who has more than 60 PFPs at this moment.
Surprisingly, the Twitter NFT influencer sold his y00ts digital asset just a few hours after minting. His plan was to sell the mint while there was still hype around the drop for maximized profit – and it worked.
“I was able to sell my mint for 127.41 SOL after fees,” he wrote in a tweet. “I spent about 37 SOL on the $DUST, and paid 6.85 SOL to the team through royalties on my sale. It was a major accomplishment to make this list and I will work hard to make future lists!”
In other words, Franklin made a 90 SOL profit by flipping his y00ts collectible. As usual, the NFT community was quick to react, including DeGods and y00t’s creator, Frank.
To begin with, yoot’s founder Frank seemed bothered with Franklin’s decision to sell his mint. One of his not-so-subtle replies via Twitter was “gonna be hilarious when DeGods flip Apes this year, though.” The message obviously refers to Franklin, who is a leading BAYC NFT collector.
Nevertheless, the NFT whale made sure that everybody understood his goal of collecting “as many Apes as possible”. In fact, we went on to explain that “a 90 SOL profit for an inexperienced SOL trader is hard to say no to”.
Meanwhile, the feud between Frank and Franklin continued. In a Twitter thread posted hours ago, Franklin stated that he is “more obsessed about BAYC Apes than Frank is about DeGods/y00ts/DUST”.
Either way, one thing is certain: Franklin’s remarkable y00t NFT flip stands as evidence for the collection’s current value. At the time of writing, y00ts has already surpassed 190k SOL less than 24 hours after the drop.
