Ben Joyce is a one-of-a-kind pitcher for Tennessee, and the kind of reliever out of the bullpen who gets even the casual college baseball fan talking. Now he’s added another element to his background.
Joyce on Tuesday announced a non-fungible token, or NFT, to commemorate his 105.5 mph pitch. Joyce threw it about a month ago on a Sunday against Auburn. It’s a pitch that will go down in baseball history — college and pros, as the second-fastest pitch in the history of baseball.
Here’s a description of the NFT:
These rare and first-ever Signed NFT’s minted by Ben Joyce commemorate the fastest NCAA pitch ever recorded at 105.5 MPH. The design mixes 2-d and 3-d art in a captivating design. The character was created by Call of Duty character developers 1518 Studios. This beautiful piece of Digital Memorabilia represents a historic moment in time and is sure to be coveted for generations to come.
Excited to drop my first ever #NFT commemorating the 105.5mph pitch. Check it out and signup for a reminder at https://t.co/GkHOKWoQq9@Vols_Baseball @VolNation #GoVols #VolNation #GBO

The fastest pitch in baseball history came from Aroldis Chapman when he was clocked at 105.8 mph in 2010.
Joyce, who graduated with a degree in finance, already has an opportunity to put that course work to work.

I cannot imagine what it’s like to be in the batters box and have a pitch of ovdr 100mph come blazing by. My goodness!
My grandson and I got to meet Ben and his parents at the recent SEC Tournament. He is a courteous young man and we wish him well in his future. Unless he meets up with Auburn at the CWS, my grandson says!
