A new NFT collection called “This Other Eden” will be launched to support the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning (LGBTQ+) community in the United Kingdom. According to a press release shared with Bitcoinist, the collection is the brainchild of creative studio Temporal Shift and Palm NFT Studio with digital marketplace Nifty’s.

The collection will be available as of June 9th and will be comprised of pieces featuring major artists in the LGBTQ+ community and its allies such as Munroe Bergdorf, The Plastic Boy, Woody Cook, DJ Fat Tony, and others. The pieces will be created by photographer Luke Nugent and will be exhibited at the London gallery.
The collection will be minted on the Palm Network at the request of Nugent. Sales proceeds will be donated to projects and initiatives created to support the LGBTQ+ community.
These include London’s LGBTIQ+ Community Shelter, Centre, and Domestic Abuse Refuge, and the Outside Project. The latter aids homeless members of this community with shelter, refuge, and by providing them with a center for self-expression.
Items from the “This Other Eden” NFT collection will vary in terms of prices. Some pieces will sell for as much as £250, others can reach several thousand pounds, according to the press release.
Carla Ecola, Director of The Outside Project, said the following about one of the organizations to benefit from The Other Eden collection:
The Outside Project exists to make space for those in the queer community impacted by homelessness and domestic abuse. The LGBTIQ+ community needs to have secure identity responsive spaces on the city map that aren’t just connected to nightlife, and our organization seeks to support the creation of basic housing and healthcare provisions for our community.
The collection has been announced close to the United Kingdom’s monarch platinum Jubilee, Elizabeth II. This will mark the first time a British ruler has been in power for over 70 years. The event will be accompanied by a series of celebrations.
For the LGBTQ+ community, the Jubilee has a meaning of its own. The NFT collection “This Other Eden” was inspired by the 1977 Queen’s Jubilee to celebrate the “creative force of queer culture” in 2022.
At its core, the collection portrays the spirit of rebellion, the release claims, from 1977 and today. The LGBTQ+ cultural movement will leverage the power of digital assets and blockchain technology to support a “modern style of activism”, as the collection’s curator Alana Lake said:
This Other Eden rides the wave of the 4th Industrial revolution with an NFT drop that harnesses the combined strengths of visual art and technology to raise awareness and garner support for The Outside Project. What we are witnessing here is a temporal shift in consciousness, a ‘coming together’ through advancing technologies, facilitated by new revenue streams (…).
