In addition to its signature hot air balloons, the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning is also getting ready to launch its first-ever line of NFT collectibles.
NFTs, non-fungible tokens, represent one-of-a-kind digital assets. They can be purchased, sold and traded.
Balloon Festival NFT collectibles will be available as digital art, digital art with an experience and digital art with merchandise, organizers said, which will include art prints, T-shirts, hot air balloon rides and more, depending on the NFT.
Organizers say this collection is the first in the ballooning community.

“We are always looking for new ways to enhance the festival experience, and digital collectibles will provide a whole new level of enjoyment and connection within the balloon festival community,” said festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman in a news release.
The NFTs will come in a limited edition run of collectibles representing novel aspects of the hot air balloon and music festival, organizers said.
The festival says it is also exploring future virtual reality experiences, and owning these NFTs will provide unlimited access to the virtual reality experience, “where you can enter the 3D metaverse experience of hot air balloon rides and interact with other people who love the adventure of hot air balloons.”
You’ll also be able to unlock metaverse community events.
A portion of future NFT collections will be airdropped for free to the early buyers of this NFT collection, organizers said.
The NFT collection will be available starting June 1 at balloonfestival.com. Those who register ahead of the sale will receive a 30 percent discount on festival general admission tickets.
Collectors will be able to buy or resell their NFTs on OpenSea or any other NFT marketplace that supports the polygon blockchain.
