Goose Island Beer Company launched its first-ever NFT collection on Friday.
This Chicago-based brewery is now offering the sale of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout 2022 Barrel House Collection.
“Goose Island Bourbon County Stout is not only a local Chicago favorite, but globally known for setting the standard of barrel-aged stouts,” says Todd Ahsmann, president of Goose Island Beer Company. “Bourbon County Stout has always had its finger on the pulse of culture and evolving consumer trends, so it’s only appropriate we launch of our first-ever NFT program.”
Ahsmann says that Goose Island fans are a “passionate community,” and he expects great interest in the new non-fungible token collection. Other beer companies have initiated NFTs, but Goose Island is perhaps the most notable craft brewery to do so.
“We see the Goose Island 2022 Barrel House Collection as an opportunity for first-time and established BCS and new NFT fans to have the opportunity to join a new community and purchase digital collectibles of the beloved BCS brand,” Ahsmann says.
The Barrel House Collection is Goose Island’s first-ever NFT collection, made up of 2,022 tokens commemorating Bourbon County Stout’s 30th Anniversary and its entry into web3. Each NFT features designs inspired by the brewing process of the coveted Bourbon County Stout beers. NFT holders will be important members of the brand’s growth, with unique incentives, exclusive access to benefits, rewards, and surprises only Goose Island can deliver. The Barrel House Collection has three tiers of BHC NFTs, all $399 (+ tax) and randomly generated – Select, Reserve and 24K Gold.
“These new marketplaces allow us to provide our drinkers with a much richer and deeper brand experience than ever before,” Ahsmann says.
Each tier has various levels of “unlocks” for BHC NFT holders to enjoy. Access “unlocks” range from a barrel stave that was once used to age BCS for all BHC NFT holders to a one-on-one Bourbon County vintage tasting with a Goose Island brewer, which will go to the one 24K Gold BHC NFT holder. “This new technology has the potential to change the way we look at everything from sponsorships, partnerships, and creative campaigns,” he says.
There are eight Barrel House Collection NFTs, which illustrate the story of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, Ahsmann says. “Each individual chapter is as important as the next,” he says. “When all eight are cellared together, your smart contract will produce the ninth special edition.”
A portion of the proceeds of the Barrel House Collection will benefit Erie Neighborhood House, a social services nonprofit that provides support, programming and resources for immigrant and low-income families in Chicago.
“Innovation’s always been part of our DNA. We wouldn’t be celebrating 30 years of Bourbon County Stout if our brewers hadn’t tried something different, and we strive to bring something new and exciting each BCS season,” Ahsmann says.
“This Barrel House NFT collection is certainly new for us, and it’s such a cool way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our first batch of Bourbon County Stout,” he continues. “Now our BCS community – and NFT fans – can collect some digital keepsakes to go with the prestigious beers.”
